The variety that is more prevalent and chosen by Hellenic Aloe for its crops is Aloe vera barbadensis Miller.

Aloe vera is a source of vitamins, with major of them bring B, C, E and A. Being a source of metals, trace elements and amino acids, while rich in polysaccharides, sterols, anthraquinones and salicylic acid. There are about 360 different types of Aloe vera plants.The gel extracted from the leaf of the plant contains more than 75 nutrients and 200 active ingredients and compounds, including 20 metals, 18 amino acids, and 12 vitamins.

The most important role for plant growth is the climate of the area in which it is grown. It actually enhances its development in areas with mild winter [temperatures above six (6) degrees Celsius] and in well-drained soils. Areas with favorable climates are considered to be Crete or the South in general as the Peloponnese, the southern Aegean islands and Cyprus.
